Project Overview

This project is located in the Huangtengxia Scenic Area, Qingyuan City, China, and was completed in September 2019. It is a landscape-oriented tensile membrane structure project inspired by a “leaf” form. Each individual structure measures approximately 2.8 m × 1.7 m, with a height of about 2.8 m, serving primarily as a landscape feature while providing partial sun shading. The steel structure is treated with an epoxy zinc-rich primer and green topcoat, effectively enhancing durability and corrosion resistance. The roof is covered with 1100 g/㎡ green PVDF architectural membrane, featuring B1-class fire resistance and fully meeting safety requirements for public buildings.

Challenge - Solution

The project is situated along the entrance stairway of the scenic area. The client requested a series of nature-inspired landscape tensile membrane structures to be installed on both sides of the steps, enhancing the visual appeal while offering basic shading. The project was positioned as a landscape-focused membrane structure installation. During the design phase, our team developed a leaf-shaped tensile membrane solution tailored to the site conditions and the overall style of the scenic area. Both the membrane material and the steel structure coating were finished in green tones to harmonize with the surrounding natural environment. Comprehensive structural analysis and wind load calculations were conducted to ensure safety and stability. The final design successfully passed all verifications and received client approval.

Construction Process

Installation - Support

Installation was carried out by our professional team. Due to the limited space on both sides of the stairway, large cranes were required to lift and position the pre-assembled structures, making the installation process technically challenging. Through close coordination with the client, the project was completed on schedule and successfully handed over. Upon completion, the tensile membrane structures added a distinctive and eye-catching landscape element to the scenic area.
