Project Overview

This project is located in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, and was completed by our company in September 2024. It is a tensile membrane carport system designed for an industrial park parking area, consisting of four separate zones. One zone is supported by independent ground foundations, while the remaining three zones are structurally connected to the main office building. Each single-row carport measures 70 m × 6 m, with a projected area of approximately 420 sqm. The project includes four rows in total, providing an overall covered area of about 1,680 sqm. The steel structure consumes approximately 31 tons of steel. The roof is covered with white PVDF architectural membrane (1100 g/sqm), featuring B1-class fire resistance to meet safety requirements for public and industrial facilities.

Challenge - Solution

Timor-Leste is located in the tropical region of the Southern Hemisphere, characterized by high temperatures and heavy rainfall throughout the year, with distinct wet and dry seasons influenced by equatorial climate systems. The client required a shading and rain-protection solution for the parking area, with a simple appearance and practical structure. Due to site constraints, three parking rows could not accommodate ground-mounted columns, requiring the carport to be anchored to the main office building structure. During the design phase, our engineering team conducted professional structural analysis based on site conditions and the architectural drawings of the office building. A semi-arched tensile membrane carport solution with a 6-meter width and diagonal bracing was developed. This design ensures structural safety while achieving an optimal balance between functionality, cost efficiency, and aesthetics. The solution was highly approved by the client.

Installation - Support

The industrial park remained fully operational during the installation period, with parking spaces occupied on a daily basis. As a result, installation work was scheduled primarily on weekends. Our company dispatched technical engineers to the site to provide installation guidance, focusing on training local workers in membrane installation techniques and key construction procedures. Detailed steel structure assembly drawings were also provided. Under on-site technical supervision, the local team quickly became proficient in membrane installation, and the project was completed on schedule. The client expressed high satisfaction with our design, manufacturing quality, and installation support services.
