Project Overview
This project is located in the capital city of Tunisia and was completed in May 2020. It is a tensile membrane canopy project for an amusement park, consisting of an entrance membrane structure and a large circular tensile membrane roof. The main circular canopy has a diameter of 32 meters and a central height of approximately 12 meters. The total projected area is about 920 sqm, with a total steel consumption of approximately 32 tons.
The steel structure is protected with an epoxy zinc-rich primer and a white topcoat, ensuring long-term corrosion resistance. The roofing membrane is a white PVDF architectural membrane with a weight of 1300 g/sqm and a B1 fire rating, fully meeting safety requirements for public buildings.
Challenge - Solution
The client required the canopy to be both functional and visually appealing, with no interior columns to maintain an open space and a modern architectural appearance. The structure needed to integrate harmoniously with the existing building and comply with specific wind and snow load safety standards.
During the design phase, multiple technical meetings were held to evaluate site conditions and structural requirements. A circular hat-shaped tensile membrane solution was proposed, supported by comprehensive structural analysis and load calculations. The structure configuration and member parameters were optimized several times to ensure structural safety, and the final design was approved by the client after verification.
Installation - Support
During construction, our engineering team provided on-site technical guidance throughout the installation process, including steel structure lifting and membrane installation. Due to an initial misjudgment of the load-bearing capacity of the existing concrete structure, minor foundation settlement occurred during lifting. Our engineers promptly proposed and implemented a foundation reinforcement solution, successfully resolving the issue and ensuring smooth project completion.
The client highly appreciated our comprehensive service, from early-stage design and fabrication to on-site technical support.
