Project Overview

This project is a tensile membrane canopy for an equestrian training venue, located in Zhuhai, China, and was completed in May 2018 with a total construction period of approximately 25 days. The canopy covers an area of about 420 m², with overall dimensions of 23 m × 18 m. The primary structure adopts a steel framework system with a total steel consumption of approximately 16 tons. All steel components are treated with an epoxy zinc-rich primer and white topcoat, providing enhanced durability and corrosion resistance. The roof is finished with 1100 g/m² PVDF architectural membrane in yellow and white, featuring B1 fire-retardant performance, suitable for semi-permanent sports facilities.

Challenge - Solution

As the structure serves an equestrian sports facility, the client required a canopy that combines functional shelter, modern aesthetics, and verified wind-load safety performance. In response, a tensile membrane structure was designed to meet operational needs while maintaining a lightweight, dynamic appearance consistent with sports architecture.

Construction Process

Installation - Support

Installation was carried out by our professional team. Due to the non-hardened ground conditions on site, a segmented lifting installation method was adopted. Steel trusses were pre-assembled on the ground, lifted into position by crane, and followed by membrane installation. The project was completed efficiently and safely as scheduled.
