Project Overview
Located in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, China, this project was completed in 2023 with a total coverage area of approximately 2,268 sqm. Designed as a stadium grandstand canopy, it provides effective sun and rain protection. The structure adopts a tie-rod truss steel system with a hat-shaped tensile membrane roof. All steel components are protected with epoxy zinc-rich primer and white topcoat, while the roof uses 1300 g/㎡ white PTFE membrane with B1 fire rating, meeting semi-permanent building and public safety standards.
Challenge and Solution
The client required a modern tensile membrane canopy for the school stadium stands, integrated with the existing grandstand concrete structure. Based on these requirements, a tie-rod hat-shaped tensile membrane system was developed. The columns are anchored to the grandstand foundation, and high-durability PTFE membrane is applied, ensuring structural stability, long service life, and a clean, modern appearance.
Installation
and Support
Installation was carried out on site by our professional team using a phased assembly method. The steel framework was erected first, followed by precise installation and tensioning of the PTFE membrane to ensure uniform stress distribution and accurate alignment. The project was completed efficiently and in accordance with design and functional requirements.
Application
This grandstand tensile membrane structure is ideal for stadiums, school sports facilities, and athletic fields, offering a lightweight, durable, and visually appealing roofing solution.
