Project Overview
This project is located in Manila, Philippines, and was completed in March 2021. It is a large-span tensile membrane roofing system designed for a tennis sports complex.
The canopy covers an overall dimension of approximately 60 m × 49 m, with a central height of about 13 m, providing a total projected coverage area of around 2,940 m².
The primary structure adopts a steel frame system with a total steel consumption of approximately 39 tons. By utilizing a soft-edge tensile membrane structure, the overall steel usage is significantly reduced compared to conventional rigid roofing systems, improving structural efficiency and material economy.
The steel structure is treated with epoxy zinc-rich primer and yellow topcoat, ensuring enhanced durability and corrosion resistance in a tropical climate.
The roofing membrane is made of 1300 g/m² white PTFE architectural membrane, featuring B1 fire resistance, excellent self-cleaning performance, and a service life of 25–30 years, fully compliant with public building safety standards.

Challenge - Solution
The facility consists of two standard tennis courts within an integrated sports venue, with a separate roof structure for spectator seating. The client outlined the following key requirements:
Practical weather protection combined with modern architectural aesthetics
Harmonious integration with the existing spectator canopy
Compliance with specified wind load and structural safety standards
After multiple rounds of technical discussions and site condition evaluations, our team proposed a large-span tensile membrane structure supported by triangular steel trusses.
This solution balances structural performance with the lightweight and expressive characteristics of tensile architecture. Comprehensive structural analysis and load calculations were conducted, and the final design successfully passed all safety verifications and received formal client approval.
Installation - Support
Installation was carried out under the on-site guidance of our engineering team. Due to the large span of the structure, a segmented lifting method was adopted:
Hoisting and positioning of the main steel framework
On-site anti-corrosion treatment
Membrane installation and tensioning
With professional coordination and precise execution, the project was completed smoothly and delivered on schedule.
The client expressed high satisfaction with our design expertise, manufacturing quality, and on-site technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
