Project Overview
This project is located at Quanshuiwan Resort, Beichen District, Tianjin, China. It is a large-scale tensile membrane stage canopy completed in June 2020, with a total construction period of approximately 28 days. The total covered area is about 2,108 m², with overall dimensions of 62 m × 34 m. The core stage features a circular dome structure with a diameter of 28 m and a maximum height of approximately 19.5 m.
The main structure adopts a steel framework system with a total steel consumption of approximately 32 tons. All steel components are treated with an epoxy zinc-rich primer combined with a white topcoat, providing enhanced durability and corrosion resistance. The roof is covered with 1300 g/m² white PVDF architectural membrane, offering B1 fire resistance and meeting safety standards for large public cultural, tourism, and performance venues.
Défi - Solution
Located within a commercial cultural and tourism resort, the project is one of Tianjin’s key cultural tourism developments. The client required the canopy to support various music performances and large-scale events, with clear requirements including:
Reliable sun shading and rain protection
Sufficient clear height for large stage performances
A modern, artistic, and iconic architectural appearance
Based on the site conditions and functional requirements, our team designed a tensile membrane structure featuring a central circular dome with auxiliary stages on both sides. This solution ensures structural safety and functional performance while creating a strong visual focal point, significantly enhancing the stage’s identity and overall landscape value.
Installation - Support
The project was fully executed by our professional installation team. Considering the structural characteristics and site conditions, the central dome adopted an overall lifting installation method. The steel framework and membrane were pre-assembled and tensioned on the ground to ensure uniform stress distribution and smooth membrane lines. Two cranes were then used for synchronized lifting to accurately position and secure the entire structure.
The side stages were installed using conventional segmented installation methods. The entire construction process was efficient and well-coordinated, allowing the project to be completed on schedule. The final result closely matched the original design intent. Upon completion, the structure became a representative music and performance landmark in Tianjin, adding a distinctive stage landscape to the city’s cultural and tourism activities.
