Project Overview
This project is located in Dutang Village, Jieyang City, China, and was completed by our company in April 2020. It is a tensile membrane canopy designed for a standard basketball court. The overall structure measures 32 m × 19 m, with a projected area of approximately 608 m². The steel structure uses about 19 tons of steel, and the membrane coverage area is approximately 700 m². The roof is covered with white PVDF architectural membrane (1100 g/m²), meeting B1 fire resistance standards and suitable for public sports facilities.
Challenge - Solution
The basketball court serves as an important activity center for the local community. The client required an upgrade to the existing court without damaging the original hardened ground. The canopy design needed to be simple, practical, and suitable for daily sun and rain protection.
During the design stage, our team developed a customized tensile membrane canopy solution with a span of 19 meters and a length of 32 meters, based on the actual site conditions. The design fully met the requirements for structural safety, functionality, and cost-effectiveness. After the client approved the design, we proceeded with material fabrication and provided foundation and embedded parts construction drawings to ensure smooth on-site installation.
Installation - Support
Based on site conditions, we adopted an overall lifting installation method. The steel structure and membrane were pre-assembled on the ground, and then lifted into position using two cranes simultaneously.
With extensive installation experience, we ensured high installation accuracy and construction quality, even with the overall lifting method. This approach significantly reduced the on-site construction period, enabling efficient installation and on-time project delivery, which received high praise from the client.
