Project Overview
This project is located in front of the Municipal Service Building in Tovuz City, Azerbaijan, and was completed in November 2019. It is a landscape tensile membrane structure inspired by the form of a flying swallow. The structure consists of multiple triangular soft-edge tensile membranes in varying sizes, primarily serving as a visual landmark while also providing partial sun shading.
The steel structure is treated with an epoxy zinc-rich primer and a white finish coat, significantly enhancing durability and corrosion resistance. The roof is covered with 1100 g/㎡ white PVDF architectural membrane, featuring B1 fire-retardant performance and complying with public building safety standards.
Challenge - Solution
Located in the forecourt of the municipal service building, the client aimed to introduce a landscape-oriented tensile membrane structure with a natural and dynamic appearance to enhance the overall spatial image, while also offering basic shading and allowing for potential commercial use. The project was positioned as a primarily landscape-focused membrane structure feature.
Based on the site conditions and functional requirements, our team proposed a swallow-inspired soft-edge tensile membrane design, creating a lightweight and elegant visual effect that integrates well with the surrounding urban environment.
Installation - Support
During the construction phase, our company dispatched experienced engineers to provide on-site installation guidance. The main technical challenges involved precise control of inclined columns and accurate fixation of the steel cables for the soft-edge membrane. Through close coordination with the local installation team, the project was completed successfully and delivered on schedule.
