Project Overview
Project Location: Xianglu Grand Hotel, Xiamen
Completion Date: June 2020
Building Type: Three-Peak Tensile Membrane Canopy
Project Background: To further elevate the outdoor dining experience for guests, the Xianglu Grand Hotel planned to add weather-proof sheltering to its internal second-floor open-air terrace. Covering a total area of 386 square meters, the canopy was designed as an elegant three-peak tensile membrane structure with varying heights. The goal was to create an all-weather outdoor space for the high-end restaurant that perfectly balances functionality and artistic aesthetics.

Challenge - Solution
Challenge 1: Zero-Interference Construction (Strict Noise & Time Control)
The primary difficulty of this project was that the hotel remained fully operational during construction. The client explicitly required that on-site work must not disturb guests’ rest or the restaurant’s daily operations. This imposed extremely high requirements on construction time windows and noise control.
Jutent Solution: Deep Factory Prefabrication
To minimize on-site interference, our engineering team significantly increased the prefabrication rate. All steel structural frameworks underwent deep pre-processing, polishing, and anti-corrosion coating within Jutent’s dedicated factory. Once the components arrived at the site, only low-noise bolting and modular assembly were required. This approach completely avoided the noise and environmental pollution caused by large-scale on-site cutting and welding.
Challenge 2: Finished Product Protection & Restricted Second-Floor Workspace
The construction zone was located on an internal second-floor terrace. The surrounding finely finished flooring, glass railings, and supporting facilities were already completed; any collision would cause financial damage. Moreover, the logistics access and working area on the second-floor terrace were relatively restricted.
Jutent Solution: Meticulous Site Protection & Agile Installation
Before materials entered the site, the Jutent installation team implemented comprehensive physical isolation and soft padding protection for the existing floors and surrounding railings on the terrace. During the lifting and assembly processes, we utilized precision compact machinery coordinated with agile manual labor, safely and efficiently completing the complex structural erection within the confined workspace.
Installation - Support
High-End Commercial Material Selection: The core canopy covering utilized a premium 1050g/㎡ PVDF architectural membrane. This material not only possesses excellent tear strength, self-cleaning properties, and weather resistance, but its unique light transmission and diffuse reflection characteristics also filter harsh sunlight during the day. At night, it interacts beautifully with lighting to create a warm, romantic dining atmosphere.
Senior Engineer On-Site Management: Facing a stringent construction environment and a tight schedule, Jutent dispatched senior installation engineers for full-process on-site management. From staggered material delivery and the implementation of site protection to the final high-altitude tensioning of the three-peak membrane, we provided meticulous technical guidance and schedule control. This ensured the project was flawlessly delivered and commissioned in June 2020.
