Project Overview
This tensile membrane canopy project is located in the Maldives and was completed in 2022. Covering approximately 1,336 m², the structure is designed to provide sunshade for a boat marina. The canopy adopts an arched roof form supported by a steel framework. All steel components are treated with an epoxy zinc-rich primer and white topcoat for enhanced corrosion resistance. The roof is clad with 1100 g/m² white PTFE architectural membrane with B1 fire rating, meeting safety standards for semi-permanent buildings and public spaces.
Challenge and Solution
The client required a tensile membrane canopy for the marina to deliver effective sun and rain protection while integrating seamlessly with the dock layout. Based on site conditions and functional requirements, our designers developed an arched, connected canopy solution that combines a lightweight structure with modern architectural appeal, fully satisfying the project’s design objectives.
Installation
and Support
Installation was carried out by a local team under the on-site guidance of our professional engineers. A segmented assembly method was adopted to ensure uniform membrane tension and precise alignment. The project was completed efficiently and in accordance with the approved schedule and specifications.
Application
This type of arched tensile membrane canopy is ideal for customized sites such as marinas, ticketing areas, and access platforms, offering a lightweight, durable, and visually distinctive shading solution.
